Interview with Bugra Sisman

PerfectProg ArchivePerfectProg.com

Bugra Sisman is a guitarist and composer from Istanbul. He recently released his debut EP called \"Until Now,\" and he gave us a bit of his time to answer our questions about the EP.

Alright, first things first. Before we dive into all the music stuff, how’s life?

Everything is good. Especially after the release of my new EP, everything seems to be going more on track.

Speaking of new music, you recently released an EP. Are you satisfied with the reception you received for “Until Now” so far?

To be honest, people liked it more than I was expecting. Of course, when I\'m writing the songs I think and imagine that it will be successful but after a while, maybe because I listen to the songs way too much, unfortunately I lose the novelty of it. However, this is not the case when people are listening to a brand new song. All the feedback I got from the audience has been very positive. And this just makes me more excited for upcoming projects.

What is “Until Now” about? Although it’s an instrumental piece, I am aware of the background story you try to interpret here, and I would love you tell me about it more.

I am glad you are aware of it and hope you like it. The first song Zero, the main character is thinking about the period before he even existed. The second song, The Existence, is about his existence and his perception about his existence. The third song, The Comprehension, is about when the character finds the comprehension in life and the period that the perceived his experiences during his lifetime. And the last song, The Obscurity, is about the obscurity period when concerns and fears about his unknown future arise.

Are there any touring plans?

I don\'t have any touring plans for now but I will keep everyone posted and let people know from my Facebook page.

While we’re on the subject of touring, what countries would you love to tour?

I would say all around the world If I ever could but we have to admit that some countries do have more fans for the kind of music that I\'m making. USA, England, Canada and maybe Australia would be perfect countries for me to perform my EP.

Who and what inspires you the most?

I get inspired by places and situations more than I get inspired by people.

What other genres of music do you listen to?

Actually I listen to almost everything. Classical music, ambient, metal, types of prog, jazz, fusion, rock and electronic. I don\'t differentiate music by it\'s type, I judge the songs based on their own character.

Have any of the other genres you listen to had any impact on your playing?

Of course. I love to play whatever I\'m listening to on my guitar. If I like a phrase by a saxophone player, I would go ahead and try to play it or try to catch the tune on my guitar. I can\'t point out a specific genre, however I can say that I do get inspired by different instruments and different styles.

I really appreciate you giving us your time today. Is there anything else you’d like to tell us and the fans before we wrap things up?

Thank you so much for having this interview with me. My audience/followers should always be expecting more. Pretty good and unique stuff are on their way. Thanks to everyone who supports me.
