Vangough - Between The Madness (2013)

Oklahoma-based Vangough (no, not the painter) just released their new album "Between The Madness", an incredible work of art (again, not the painter). I have heard Vangough before, and as a Prog Metal Fan I couldn't wait to hear this album as soon as possible.
As soon as I listened the first track I was hanged. That took me into a Journey between the madness as I finished listening to the album feeling empty inside somehow. Then I listened the album again, then again in my car, and another time when I was going to bed, to finally ended up sleeping to it.
The Madness took me away and I was trapped in the fantasy of this dramatic and sometimes schizophrenic album, filled with incredible guitar riffs, amazing and powerful vocals, thundering drums and melodic lines beyond conscious comprehension.
Definitely this album sounds much darker than their previous works, but I think Vangough have found the sound that they should take advantage of, with some of their new songs being something I've never listened before.
The songs are carefully crafted and systematic yet they suprise us with every detail, in the lyrics, arrangements, orchestra and amazing bass work.
This album is a keeper in every aspect. Essential in any progressive "metaller" library.
I don't like rating albums because I think that two bands cannot be compared to each other, but comparing Between The Madness with Vangough's previous works this could easily achieve a score of 13/10.
