Wow, Where do i start, Ever since i heard Germany's Koyaanisqatsy on Progulus radio about 4 years ago i was under their spell. I had never heard anything quite like this before and i had to get myself a copy ASAP. Their music is wondrous oblivion, classical cinematic, progressive, they are so bombastic and epic like Ben Hur and Braveheart mixed into one.

The musicianship is truly amazing and Wolfgang Schneider on piano is a modern day genius as is Markus Glanz on guitar. The whole album creates such fullness as if you were at an opera. The album opens with Overture 3030, a beautiful classical intro. Then the album gets more bombastic with the amazing Memoria, awesome drumming on this track by Stefan Petzold, this song is so uplifting that you get the feeling there is 10 people in Koyaanisqatsy, i suppose the amazing keyboards give that effect. Way of Thoughts is the 3rd track and probably the heaviest, magnificent guitarwork here by Markus as well as great drumming.
Then it's on to The Perfect Lie, this song starts of with a sort of chanting before becoming heavier. The song reminds me of the Italian prog band Goblin from the Dario Argento movies and Markus plays with so much feeling here. Then it's on to my favourite track, Cosmic Space Drive. I think this song sums up Koyaanisqatsy, this has everthing, passion, power, feeling, intensity. There is one moment in the song that reminds me of Mel Gibsons portrayal of William Wallace in Braveheart where he gets betrayed by Robert The Bruce and can't quite believe what is happening to him. This is tears to the eyes stuff indeed!!
Then its on to the final track, Golden Dawn, 18 minutes of pure brilliance. To compare Koyaanisqatsy to other bands is hard, think Beethoven, Wagner, Devil Doll, Goblin and great cinematic masterpieces. This is truly the greatest instrumental prog album ever made, you will have never heard anything like it before, i promise!! A true epic cinematic masterpiece.
