Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier (2010) – Review by Logan Lee

And so this day has finally come. My first Iron Maiden review and i must admit that I guess it will be really hard to be unpartial on this one, but I’ll give it a try.

First of all, I’ve been defending for a while the idea that Iron Maiden is evolving their sound since Bruce Dickinson’s return mixing their extraordinary ability to make amazing (good old) heavy metal songs with some arrangements taken, with extraordinary capacity, directly from progressive stream. All you have to do to confirm this opinion is to hear carefully this last album (in which they have managed to reach a higher level of this combination heavy-prog), specially the last 3 tracks (The Talisman, The Man Who Would be King & When the Wild Wind Blows).

The first two tracks are the most powerfull (and easy to recognize that we are talking about the almighty Iron Maiden): The Final Frontier title track which is preluded by an Intro (Satellite 15) and El Dorado are what i usually call Maiden’s label, with amazing instrumental parts and the usual (but long lasting) Bruce’s power and Energy. Besides, after listening to this CD (over and over again) I strongy reccomend all Maiden’s fan sto go seek for the music video made with the title track The final frontier which will surely surprise all (at the end of the video, try to remember how The number of the beast music video was made, and you will under stand why I have found this video particularly interesting).

Well, as with some other reviews from “sacred” bands on metal, prog and prog metal, i will not fall on the trap to make a comment about their technique (also because it is not necessary, since everybody knows these guys have reached the maximum level a long time ago) and will limit myself to give my (humble) vote, which has to be a perfect 10 (because I can’t go further LOL), Now focus on their music (and “Be quick…. Or be dead…”).
