Black Wings is a young aged members composed band, with a medium age of 18 years old, born in the late summer of 2005 by the meeting between Filippo Cavallini ( July 30th 1987, Bass) and Federico Rubin ( February 8th 1989, Keyboards). After some chatting they decide, along with Francesco Rubin ( February 8th 1989, Guitar), Federico's brother, to begin an hard rock band project with Dennis and Daniel Servelli (respectively Vocals and Drums). After some rehearsals they find out that both Dennis and Daniel were not what they were looking for so, under Filippo's recommend, they called in the band Giacomo Bazzani ( February 2nd 1991, Drums), who had worked with Filippo in Roverfish, an hard rock band from Ferrara, till they broke up in July 2005. The next few months see the band constantly rehearsing and doing audition for a new singer; the man for whom they were looking for was find around the late October of 2005 in the form of Diego Albini ( June 24th 1986, Vocals), an old dated Filippo's friend who was playing and singing since the age of fourteen and who shared the scene with Filippo and Giacomo in some old appearances and concerts in the Ferrara's area.
With the line-up now at the complete the band starts to grow up a repertoire of hard rock and progressive metal stuff such as Deep Purple, Dream Theater, Rainbow and Black Sabbath and they first appear live at the “Sala Estense” in Ferrara on December 9th 2005. After that first gig the band starts to play a lot in the Ferrara's district, in some cities and small towns of Veneto and in the Bologna's vicinity, always receiving positive receptions, approvals and greetings by the audience.
In the last days of winter they start recording a first demo tape ( “Obelisk of Power” ), under the coordination of Antonio Masiero, containing two unedited songs from the band ( "Lost in the Wind" and "Obelisk of Power" ) and two Deep Purple's covers ( "Burn" and "Highway Star" ). For all of the Spring of 2006 the band is hitting the road playing in a lot of concerts and in some contests in which they obtain good placements and many first places. The Summer of 2006 will be not so different from the Springtime, the quintet is constantly playing in a lot of public events and live cafes and composing new material.
On August 24th 2006 the band plays at the “Mulino” ( Ro Ferrarese ), and, along with Antonio Masiero, records a full length self produced live album (sometimes simply titled “Black Wings Live” and sometimes “Live & Loud”) containing a new song from the band titled “Waiting the Time”, the other songs from Black Wings' production and some covers. The live is “good enough”, in the opinion of the always self critic formation, and they decide to sell it in the next many gigs they were going to do in September. Luckily the audience doesn't trait the expectations of the band and all the copies of the self produced album is wholesale before the end of the September tour. By the end of the same month the quintet decide to stop gigging for a little while just to start composing new material and rehearsing more frequently the new tunes they're writing down and which will appears on the forthcoming full length self produced album they are going to record at the end of 2006.
