OSI - Blood (2009) Review by Logan Lee 8/10

OSI – Blood (2009) – Review by Logan Lee

What to say about this CD? Besides the fact that some of the participants are among my favourite of all times (such as Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree on the drums and a special appearance of Opeth’s singer Mikael Akerfeldt), this album really seems to be done by people who knows what they are doing and are not afraid to try new things.

I have listened to it more than one time, since it is a hard to catch musicality, and at the end I could not find a link with anything that I have heard in the last years. They were able to mix several different sorts of influences (sometime during the listening section I was able to identify similarities with led zeppelin, stone temple pilots and unfortunately radiohead) with very modern electronic arrangements.

According to me, the best song of the album was named after the Swedish capital Stockholm (was that the reason why Akerfeldt sang it?), but you may try listening to this album from the beginning until the end because their strength resides on transition songs and complex rhythm. In other words, if you listen to this album more than once and always from the beginning you will never get tired of it due to the amazing balance reached by combining strong performances with slow/experimental songs.
