Sometimes great bands, get greater ...though a little different. 

This is certainly true for  'Paradise Lost' .

Going a little bit off track and immerse in a more Power Metal- like sound. This makes a great heavy, hard hitting album, albiet less complex. This is certainly a great move for now..., to get the not so prog. listeners attention. (Though i would recommend listening to their legacy stuff for the newbies out there, to get the picture.) 

The album sounds great, Romero's new guitar sound is ff-class, this makes the album sound very contemporary.  

Symhony X is still keeping it real, though as said before less complex, this makes way for some heavy riffing, and experimenting with some different kind of songwriting. ( more epic)

Hope they go more prog on their next album, as for now i can't stop banging my head.
