Due to personal issues, I was not
into music these last days. But when I was asked to prepare this review I
suddenly regained strength and that really is the greatest Avantasia feature -
the ability to lift up spirits with their music. I did not even know that Mr.
Sammet was preparing a new release and when I saw there were TWO CDs to hear I
ran and got them.

ProgPower Europe 2010, we just would like you to know that the 3 final bands have been added to the line-up. On Friday 1 October, the festival will be opened by the French band KLONE, who will released new album right now. On Saturday talented newcomer HAKEN from the UK will open and on Sunday LOVE DE VICE from Poland will open the last day of the festival.

announced today that they will be the headliner on Saturday, October 2nd at
ProgPower Europe 2010. After the successful release of “Digital Ghosts” in November 2009
via InsideOut Records, the band is set to bring their epic progressive rock
music to the stage.
SHADOW
GALLERY,
known purely as a studio band until this point, has released 6 albums while the
members juggled other music-related jobs and careers with their recordings.
After the lost of their original singer MIKE BAKER in October 2008 due to a
sudden heart attack, the band vowed to honor their fallen band mate and the fans
who loved him by moving forward. They found singer BRIAN ASHLAND who stepped in
to add his own graceful style to “Digital
Ghosts”.
In
their upcoming performance at ProgPower Europe, the band will play selections
from “Digital Ghosts”, as well as music
from all of their previous releases. Guitarist Gary Wehrkamp states, “I have known Rene Janssen from ProgPower
Europe a long time and am thrilled that we are going to play our debut European
date at his event. The band is enthusiastic to perform in the Netherlands this
coming fall. We anticipate a great time and are eager to meet so many friends
from this part of the world face to face as we bring the music of Shadow Gallery
to the stage”.
Headliner
on Sunday 3 October will be JON OLIVA’S
PAIN, who will make their return at ProgPower Europe after their excellent
performance back in 2007. Christopher Kinder, drummer of JOP says “Wow...it
is with obvious energy and enthusiasm that we are offered the opportunity to
headline this killer festival once again. We will arrive ready and eager to
satisfy all JOP/Savatage fans. Holland is JO's favorite country as we are always
forced to hit the coffee shop before the beginning of every tour! We will spend
much time planning this tour. The setlist will be reviewed many, many times so
that we can bring the very best of the past and the present to everyone. Thanks
again to Rene and all his staff for this warm and very appreciative invitation.

Fates Warning to release deluxe edition of “Parallels” on March 16th, 2010! Fates Warning has announced the release of the deluxe edition of their seminal 1991 album, Parallels!
Fans can get their hands on this new take on the album on March 16th,
2010. The deluxe edition has been completely re-mastered and contains
well over 3 hours of music and live footage. Parallels
is the sixth record from the prog metal pioneers and was one of their
music successful releases due to the commercial success of the singles Eye To Eye, Point Of View and We Only Say Goodbye. Also, James LaBrie of Dream Theater fame makes a guest appearance on the track Life In Still Water. Parallels
has proven to be one of the most influential albums in the prog and
metal genres, despite its hotly debated status among fans as a
"commercial" sounding album.
Vocalist Ray Alder comments further, "I think it’s one of the best
albums we ever put out and I’m happy that fans have the chance to take
a second look at this important record. The lineup, the songs and the
cover art all came together to make a great package when originally
recorded and the bonus DVD really adds a fresh perspective to the
album."
