Ofsoski - Later than never 9/10

9/10

Richard Ofsoski is a very talented musician out of Brisbane Australia. His debut album Later than never is a splendid mix of Royal Hunt and Yngwie Malmsteen.

He is also a very talented vocalist with a strong voice, the abum starts of with the song Temination which is a great opening track, and then its on the the Excellent flame with its middle eastern feel to it. The next song Nightmare is a very uplifting song with an awesome riff. It's obvious Ofsoski is a big Royal hunt fan as his music is strongly influenced by them but adds his own style aswell.

The song Haunted to me is his standout track, very powerful with awesome melodies. Worried sheep is an awesome instrumental which has a Planet x feel. He is an unsigned artist who sells his cds through cd baby, you can buy his cds through his myspace. He is also in another band as lead singer of Sedition ( Prog metal act ) This cd is awesome from start to finish with not a dull moment. A very uplifting album from an artist with huge potential indeed.

STRATOVARIUS Mainman Completes 11 New Songs

Tuesday, 31 October 2006

STRATOVARIUS mainman Timo Tolkki (guitar) has issued the following update:

"I have written 11 new [STRATOVARIUS] songs and we are first going to demo them. This will be completed by the end of the year and we will enter the studio to record that actual album around February. [Timo Kotipelto, vocals] is releasing his third solo album around that time (and what I have heard, it sounds really great) as well and he has naturally promotional activities and I think he is also doing a tour during spring. STRATOVARIUS production will be ready sometime in the summer 2007 and depending on various different things, the album, entitled 'R...... R.......'), will be released in October 2007 or in the beginning of 2008 followed by a massive world tour.

"So all okay here, everybody's happy, the songs are great and we are looking forward to the new adventures."

STRATOVARIUS' latest, self-titled effort was released in the U.S. in September 2005 via Sanctuary. A video for the album's first single, "Maniac Dance", was shot in April 2005 in Helsinki by director and Tolkki's old schoolmate Antti Jokinen (BEYONCÉ, WYCLEF JEAN, KORN, MISSY ELLIOT, NIGHTWISH, SHANIA TWAIN, CELINE DION).

EPICA Parts Ways With Drummer, Seeks Replacement
User Rating: / 0
Monday, 16 October 2006
Dutch female-fronted symphonic metallers EPICA have parted ways with drummer Jeroen Simons. According to a posting on the band's official web site, "Jeroen has decided to concentrate on another musical career and will therefore leave EPICA. We want to thank him for everything he has contributed to the band for the last four years and want to wish him all the best in his new musical career!"

EPICA is currently seeking a new drummer. Interested parties can contact the group at

As previously reported, EPICA's previously announced live DVD, which was filmed on May 4, 2006 at Paradiso in Amsterdam, Holland, has been delayed until next year.

To celebrate EPICA's recent U.S. tour debut alongside KAMELOT, Candlelight Records released a deluxe edition of the band's latest album, "Consign to Oblivion". Recorded in early 2005 and featuring guest contribution from KAMELOT vocalist Roy Khan, the album hit stores nationwide last month. The CD packaging includes a special DVD.

EPICA is currently working on material for its third full-length album, which they expect to begin recording before the end of the year
ADAGIO Completes Pre-Production For New Album
User Rating: / 0
Monday, 16 October 2006
French progressive metallers ADAGIO have finished making a pre-production recording of four songs their fourth album, entitled "Archangels in Black". According to a posting on the group's official web site, the overall vibe of the tracks "Archangels in Black", "Undead", "The Fear Circus" and "Twilight At Dawn" is "very dark and massive. The band came back to a more orchestral style of composition but kept the heaviness of songs like 'Dominate' or 'Children of the Dead Lake' from the previous album released in 2005 in Japan."

Commented guitarist Stephan Forté: "This album is a sort of tribute to dark arts, including horror movies and gothic literature. It's our own musical representation of what darkness is. I think the song 'Archangels in Black' would be a cool hymn for all those of us who enjoy sinister arts."

ADAGIO will enter the studio in December to record "Archangels in Black" for an early 2007 release.

ADAGIO issued its latest album, "Dominate", in North America and Europe (outside France) in July via Locomotive Music. The CD — which was issued in Japan in December 2005 via Avalon/Marquee and in France in March through Double Vision (via Sony/BMG distribution) — was produced by Stephan Forté and Kevin Codfert, and was mixed at House of Audio Studios in Germany by Dennis Ward.
NOSTRADAMEUS Announces New Guitaris

Monday, 16 October 2006
NOSTRADAMEUS drummer Esko Salow has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"This is a happy moment for us in NOSTRADAMEUS. Time has come for us too announce the latest addition to the band, a dear friend and excellent guitar player with the name Lennart Specht. After the decision too split our ways with Michael Åberg we decided to finish the album before starting the work [of] finding a replacement. We stood before the choice of lots of auditions and learning to live with people we didn't know or to take someone we already knew as a great guitar player and songwriter, and it sure was a easy choice that we don't regret. Specht has been playing together with Esko for the past 18 years in various bands and for the last eleven years with Thomas and Esko in PATHOS and later FEJD. We've already had the opportunity to learn and rehearse over 90 minutes' worth of live material and also started the songwriting process for our forthcoming album. The 'Pathway' album is set too be released 19th January 2007 and we are currently working with some gigs and tour options that will take place during the time for the album release.

"We hope too see you out there on a kick-ass tour and we know you're bound too like the album!"

NOSTRADAMEUS' fifth album, "Pathway", will feature the following track listing (in no particular order):

01. Wall of Anger
02. No Trace of Madness
03. Not Only Women Bleed
04. MDCC Pt. 1
05. MDCC Pt. 2
06. The Untouchebles
07. Death by My Side
08. Until the End
09. Demon Voices
10. Welcome to Living
11. P.I.R

NOSTRADAMEUS' fourth album, "Hellbound", was released in May 2004 through Germany's AFM Records. The follow-up to 2003's "The Third Prophecy" was recorded at RoastingHouse studios in Malmö, Sweden.

ARCH ENEMY Singer Says Sunrise GIGANTOUR Show Was Filmed For Upcoming DVD
User Rating: / 0
Wednesday, 11 October 2006

ARCH ENEMY frontwoman Angela Gossow has posted the following message on her MySpace page:

"Although the Gigantour isn't over yet (we will be meeting up with MEGADETH, LAMB OF GOD and OPETH in Japan and Australia again), I got the 'end-of-tour' blues. I had to say goodbye to a lot of wonderful people already. I am sitting in a stupid hotel room at Orlando airport. I feel lonely, I miss the tour bus and always having somebody around. No laughter and music pouring through the aircon whilst I am trying to fall asleep. This room isn't moving. And it is way too big for me. I can't relax here.

"I want to be in Japan NOW. And I don't really want to go back to Sweden. I don't miss 'home' anymore. I don't need four rooms, stuffed wardrobes, cupboards and a big TV. I never owned a car anyway. All I need to be well fits into one bag. No drama, no worries, just the road, the bus, the venue, cool people.

"The last couple of days were intense. We had the guitar contest winner R. Kelly (yes, this is REALLY his name! Ryan Kelly! on stage with us in Tampa, Florida. He is 17 years old, from Seattle. And nailed that 'Ravenous' solo without throwing up or fainting on stage. I would have done both simultaneously. This young man has nerves of steel!

"The Gigantour crew finally shot the live footage for the upcoming DVD in Sunrise, Florida. We gave it all, so it should turn out killer!

"Orlando was the last Gigantour show in the U.S. We have almost a week off now until Loud Park festival, Tokyo. I thought I'd give it all and scream my voice to pieces that night. I really went for it, but didn't succeed. My voice doesn't even have a scratch. I have been absolutely careless with my voice on this tour. Drinking wine and sitting up talking nonsense to 5 in the morning. No voice rest. Fuck all this. My voice is doing better than ever. I hope Melissa [Cross, Angela's vocal coach] isn't reading this.

"To everybody I met at the shows/signings, shared dressing rooms, thoughts and drinks with: Thank you for being so nice and patient with me! I have had a wonderful time in the U.S. … again! I love your friendliness, passion and your wholefoods markets! I will miss you A LOT!"
