Derek Sherinians new album Molecular Heinosity has some great musicians on board, the great Virgil Donati and Zakk Wylde. I personally have never been a huge fan of Zakk but he plays with great freedom and virtuosity here. The album starts off with my favourite track ( Antarctica ) this song could be on any Planet X album as could a lot of the songs on Molecular Heinosity!!

The album also has a big Malmsteem feel to it aswell ( Planet X crossed with Malmsteem, not a bad mix ) Songs like The Lone Spaniard and Molecular Heinosity are very Malmsteem influenced but with Dereks distinctive keyboard sound, there are also some great crunchy riffs on the album.

The final track ( So Far Gone ) has Zakk on vocals, i think Derek should have left it as an instrumental. I am not a fan in the slightest of Zakk's voice and the song is very unmemorable to my ears because of this, the album is short aswell clocking in at about 40 minutes. All in all not a bad release and one that will appease fans of Planet X to some degree but one that could have been a lot better!!
